It is not possible to say what is the right dosage for you without knowing alot more. Your TSH needs to be 1 or below ,FT4 and FT3 above half way.Vitamins need to be optimal for you .If you have Hashimotos being gluten free may help.

Finally, please read posts on this site ,read up on Thyroid UK site, join ,learn you would then be able to ask more effective questions.

Thanks for reply.. I’ve asked doctor for results each time but all she gives me are my TSH and nothing else that’s all that are tested?

I have been looking and reading about thyroid but different advice each time

All my doctor has given me as far as info is concerned is a print out of how the thyroid works

any links you could share to help would be appreciated

Many thanks

The NHS rarely tests more than TSH ,sometimes a GP may ask for more and the lab refuses, which is why many use private testing by Blue Horizon or Medichecks. If you can find a copy of Thyroid for Dummies at the library or abe books it is a useful overview if a little out of date.

As you were diagnosed in 2013, I don't think your doctor has looked after you very well at all as your TSH is till nearly 5, when the aim is a TSH of 1 or below. Unfortunately doctors don't appear to know anything about how to treat a patient who has hypothyroidism, so that they are symptom-free and get on with their lives.

You have to have all blood tests at the very earliest and fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between your last dose of levo and the test and take afterwards. Always get a print-out of the results with the ranges for your own records and you can post if you have a query.

You need a TSH of around 1 (or below) with a Free T4 and Free T3 in the upper part of the ranges. Your GP should also test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. If any are low that can also affect your thyroid hormones.

The aim of thyroid hormone replacements is relief of all clinical symptoms and you've not achieved that yet.and I blame doctors who seem to know little except keep the TSH somewhere in the range - which is wrong.

Don't be afraid to ask any questions. There's always members around who have similar questions to you and may have resolved them.
