I take a combo. Post your latest results to include TSH, FT3 and FT4 tested at the same time for suggestions about dosing.

Keeley1970,

If you want advice on dosing please post your recent TSH, FT4 and FT3 results and ranges.

It's fine to take Levothyroxine and T3 together. If you've not taken T3 before it will be best to start with a quarter of a tablet, 6.25mcg, to see how well you tolerate it.

Thanks for replies! My latest results are:-

TSH 1.77 (0.27-4.20)

FREE THYROXINE 13.6 (12.00-22.00)

T4 76.5 (59-154)

FREE T3 3.31 (3.10-6.80)

THYROGLOBULIN ANTI <10 (0.00-115)

Thyroid peroxide anti 32.1 (0.00-34)

I’m currently on 150mg and have justed sourced and started taking 25mg Tiromel for the past week. Don’t seem to have any side affects so far. Weight just not moving. Heaviest EVER!! Please any advice, tips or dosage ideas would be great. NO help from my doctor at all!!! 😫😫

It is very difficult to burn any stored energy with low levels of T3.

Well, it takes about a week for T3 concentrations to reach their peak, so not much could have happened yet. Low T3 can cause insulin & leptin resistance and make weight loss impossible. Google that and you will find much good info. Getting T3 up will help a lot. If you end up needing to reduce anything, reduce T4 and not T3.

Keeley1970,

I think you were a little undermedicated on 150mcg as FT4 and FT3 were low in range. However, adding 25mcg T3 is like increasing to 225mcg Levothyroxine which is likely to overmedicated you as your T3 level builds up. I would reduce dose to 12.5mcg T3 and retest 6 weeks after starting T3 to check FT3 remains within range.

Should I cut my Levo to 100mg and take 25mg Tiromel? Would this help with the weight loss?

Keeley1970,

T3 isn't a weightloss aid. Being overmedicated can cause weight gain and some people gain weight on T3.

Didn’t take the Tiromel for weight loss but to increase my t3 level. As feel even though I’m on quite a high dose of Levo (was 200mg) it seemed I wasn’t converting to t3 properly.

Keeley1970,

FT4 was low so there wasn't much T4 to convert from. Still, T3 will raise FT3 but, as I said, I think 12.5mcg will be enough and 25mcg will overmedicate you.
