I get this every morning - usually it goes after a coffee with sugar. It's very unpleasant -does anyone else get this and have any comments or suggestions how to treat it ?

I have Hashis and recently GF which has helped start to reduce anti bodies

Thanks

yes same feelings as me doesn't last long. am GF and soya free (and lots of other stuff-free). am awaiting results of Dutch tests for cortisol - thyroid is pretty well balanced at moment so as you say either adrenals OR blood sugar as other kind person suggests.

I cannot answer your question. Do you take Coffee shortly after taking thyroid hormones? If so you may have some interference with the uptake.

Anxiety is a horrible symptom. I hope you solve the problem.

Having coffee too close to your TH will interfere with absorption of the hormone.

There are other things which could be happening. Thyroid replacement can increase your sensitivity to caffeine generally, even if your dose is optimal. Effects can include anxiety, shakiness/trembling, increased heart rate.

The sugar in your coffee may also be destabilising your blood glucose, if it's the first 'food' you consume each day and you also have metabolic syndrome or pre-diabetes. In this case the sugar in your coffee will be rapidly absorbed, and insulin will be released to bring down the blood glucose. Falling blood sugar levels (in metabolic syndrome) cause the release of adrenaline, inducing anxiety, trembling and so on.

I would get thyroid and vitamins tested 6-8 weeks after going GFree

Sugar levels?

Cortisol?

Thyroid?

Can be loads of things.

Get yourself one of those blood sugar level machines and upon waking up test your blood sugar levels for few days. They're quite cheap. See Amazon.

Also ask GP to test for all above.

As an introduction to blood glucose monitoring and metabolic syndrome, I can recommend Dr Sarah Myhill's book, 'Prevent and Cure Diabetes'.

There will be instructions in the machine you bought telling about correct blood sugar levels.

But Google is your encyklopedia for any info I.e this link diabetesselfmanagement.com/...

If it is low blood glucose, eat protein before bed. Also, eat some protein for breakfast.

thank so much -I will try that regardless as it's a small intervention that might help

I had it on occasions when I was under-medicated. Now I am getting near to my right dose of levothyroxine I rarely get it. It's not very nice. I hope that helps a bit.

Thats interesting - as I have recently had to up my levo and I understand it takes 6 weeks to get properly into our systems . If ONLY there was a way to tell. I have been taking my temperature (as per Dr P years ago) but mine is always low which I think is adrenals as I have had them tested fairly regularly. Of course, as you say, maybe its too low still.

Thank you for comment.

I had to have few increases before I got to a good dose for me so unfortunately had to suffer for a few months. It was so nice when it went.

I am so pleased to hear you found a good dose and that saw off the anxiety. I must work on raising mine a little I think

It’s worth working on, it’s surprising what a difference it makes.
