Welcome to our forum Becky16 and I am sorry you've a problem with your thyroid gland.

It sounds as if you have hyperthyroidism which is that your thyroid gland is giving out too much and speeds everything in your body. I shall give you a link:

When you have a blood test it should always be at the very earliest, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between the tablet and the test and take afterwards. This helps to get the best results. Always get a print-out of your results and make sure the ranges are stated. Ranges are in brackets after the result and helps members to respond.

Did the GP mention it would be a referral to an Endocrinologist?

What other tests did you have done? (an important tip - from now on you need to get copies of any blood tests results, including these you have had done)

What symptoms did you have that took you to the GP?

Hi I have been given urgent referral and given carbimazole 10mg ,ultra sound and more bloods at the end of month .

Make sure you have blood tests every 8 weeks whilst on Carbimazole (and get copies of results)

You need to know exactly what was tested, and exactly what the results were, and learn to understand what they mean - you can do that on here, plenty of people can explain them to you. You cannot just trust your doctor, where your thyroid is concerned, because they don't have enough knowledge of the subject.

You need to keep your own records. On the back of each copy, note what you were taking, and how you felt, symptoms, etc. You will no doubt be grateful to have all this on record in the future, and not have to rely on your memory to understand your progress - or lack of it. Most people on here have found it very useful.

That would be a different test though. It may, in some people, lower WBC levels. If you start suffering a sore throat (check the patients leaflet) stop taking them and go and get your WBC tested.

I meant regular thyroid tests. There is often a possibility of the Carbimazole dose being too high, then it would make you over medicated and you would start to suffer hypO symptoms. If you test every 8 weeks, that's not likely to happen, but you may have to nag your GP

Hi there i have been hyper back in july and had same symptons if being breathless, tremors,panic attacks the whole shahbang, i now hypo and still suffering and off work 6 months later has my mexs are still not correct for me alongside other problems. The breathlessness is the worst but being hyper you need to take and rest as it takes toll on your body especially your heart but its good you have carbi.

Like you have been informed get your copies of your bloods as you will need these has you need to take charge of your own health now as gps are not knowledgeable on your disease and you should learn everything you can, it is along fight with your body and a even bigger fight with endos sometimes. Carbi takes quite a while to work around 4-6 weeks to see any improvement but you will get there, i have regular blood tests every 4 weeks(1 a month) some people do 6-8 weeks as time goes by but i was instructed one a month by endo.

I am off work myself and also looking at different things and one of them is pip-ive never claimed anything before- quick question-do you call dwp? X😊
