Hi, does anyone suffer from adrenal fatigue and hashimotos? Ive got all the classic symptoms. I’m not taking anything for my thyroid as the medication made me feel worse, but I am taking a range of supplements for my adrenals, which appear to be helping (slowly).
Just wondering how others are managing? Thank you

I should imagine others are taking their thyroid 'medication' - levo, or some other form of thyroid hormone replacement. Just taking supplements for your adrenals is not going to make you fully well again.
I have Hashi's and had adrenal fatigue some time ago. But, even though my adrenals are better now, I'd probably be dead by now if I didn't take my thyroid hormone. And, you wouldn't be taking anything 'for' your thyroid, you would be taking hormone to replace the hormone your thyroid can no longer make itself. There is not cure for Hashi's/hypo, you immune system will continue to attack your thyroid until it is dead.
What were you given and how much? It often happens that you feel worse before you feel better, that is not a reason not to take it.
Thank you for your reply. I was taking levo for 5 years (dose between 50 - 150). I actually felt better when I took myself off it, and started taking adrenal supplements. But I’m by no means ‘back to normal’.
I’ve looked into NDT but don’t know where to go with this. I thought perhaps if I can repair my adrenals, my thyroid would eventually follow suit. I guess I’m confused.
Yes, I think you are a bit. No, repairing your adrenals will not repair your thyroid.
Do you have any of your lab results from when you were on levo. It could have been that you didn't convert very well, and that's why it never made you feel any better.
Also, did you have your nutrients tested? Vit d, vit B12, folate, ferritin. It's not just about hormones, your nutrients all need to be optimal, too, for you to feel well, and for your adrenals to function correctly.
Correct. Stress is handled by the adrenal glands. Physical stress is caused when you do not have enough thyroid hormone. The adrenal glands work hard to compensate for that stress and thus become tired.
I strongly suspect as GG says thatcyour issue with Levo was because you were t in the correct amount for you. Some doctors thing giving you medication is the end of the problem-Wrong! It's actually the start of adjusting the medication to correct your problems, not one dose suits all. So I feel that was where youvproblem was orcyouvwere allergic to the fillers in the medication.
Thank you for your reply. My dose was altered several times over 5 years, to no avail. I actually felt better when I came off them. I suspect that my body doesn’t take well to synthetic products. Also, having ‘having a one size fits all’ GP and Endo, doesn’t help. 🙄
I also have hashi’s and adrenal issues. When I did take Levo it made me feel worse and my dose was adjusted many times. I got to the point where I too stopped taking it. I was taking adrenal supplements at the time and I think they helped me feel better than when I took the Levo. I now take NDT (Armour) prescribed by my GP. I am not convinced that it is helping me though.
Thank you for your reply. Your situation sounds the same as mine. Can I please ask how you managed to convince your GP to prescribe NDT? It’s something that I would like to try, and see if it helps.
I explained that I felt T4 made me feel worse and that as my TSH was 98 I needed to try something. He was hesitant and said it was expensive but I said ‘I am worth it’. GP’s can prescribe on a named patient basis as far as I know. Good luck, you are worth it.
