Advice please?

Hi. I'm a hypothyroid male who was put on levothyroxine after radio iodine treatment in ever increasing doses (150mcg) when I last took them. The Levo made me feel quite awful, making me itch badly but giving me the most debilitating insomnia ever. Through research and going to forums like this I discovered NDT and my G.P in the U.K was willing to write private scripts so I could obtain NDT. I started with Naturethroid and took 2 grains of this and started to feel somewhat better but the insomnia persisted but not as bad, then I discovered W.P Thyroid by the same company but with less additives. This has proved a godsend over the last few months as my sleeping has returned, I have no itching and feel far better than I have in a while. Now, though I have hit a brick wall as RLC labs are currently not producing W.P Thyroid due to relocation and the only NDT I have been able to obtain other than Armour is NP Thyroid which has proved more than twice as expensive as W.P but also has caused my levo symptoms to return, chronic insomnia and itching. I was kindly directed to a site where I could still obtain Naturethroid but I need NDT with very additives and fillers like W.P. can anyone please help?

Unfortunately, WP Thyroid and another option, Westhroid, are both out of production. I've checked with a reliable online pharmacy and there are no release dates available yet, but there is an assurance that production will resume at some point.

There is a bovine form of DTH called Thyro Gold, which some people find helpful. It was formulated by the late Dr John Lowe and production has been continued by his wife. It is sold in the US as a food supplement rather than a medication, so that they can sell it directly. I haven't tried it myself, but there's more info here:

Itching suggests you may have a problem with the fillers. Way to check would be to take an antihistamine one hour before your meds. It that stops it then its the fillers so need to try another brand. When you find one that suits make arrangements to always be given that brand. You may find though that potency can then be slightly different so after 6 weeks ask for a blood test if you feel that is the case.

Hi thanks for the reply that is why I prefer WP Thyroid as it doesn't give me insomnia or the itching but it is not currently available. I have tried Naturethroid but nothing suits me like WP. I was given NP Thyroid which I was told is like WP but I find it awful stuff (at least for me anyway) as it results in severe itching and debilitating insomnia!
