Hi Everyone,

Just to let you know that the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is developing guidance on the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases.

We're looking for patients and carers to join the committee to ensure the guidance is reflective of the experience and needs of patients.

The recruitment advert is here: nice.org.uk/get-involved/jo...

This explains more about the role, the commitment required and what we can offer to help you take part, including expenses, honorariums, training, and support. If there are any questions please get in touch by emailing PIPrecruitment@nice.org.uk or calling 0161 870 3020.

Thank-you for reading and thank-you to Thyroid UK for allowing us to engage with their members.

Help - some of us should do this. Who's up for it?

I wish I could do this but I'm 66. I went for a half hour interview yesterday to volunteer with Oxfam and was wiped out for the rest of the day. Any younger ones here with their condition under control?

We understand that it can be difficult to attend the meetings. We are able to provide accommodation to ensure you're well rested and make reasonable adjustments. Attending meetings may not be for everyone though, so you're more than welcome to be involved during the consultation and give your feedback that way.

Mark,

I genuinely appreciate seeing this post here.

My problem in applying is very simple, and probably applies to many. I work full-time. Travel time to London is about five hours for the fastest train. So a full-day meeting could mean taking two or even three days for each meeting. If there are nine meetings a year that could be eighteen to twenty seven days a year. That would not go down well with my employer.

I might have managed if it were meeting days only - that is, if I lived within daily commuting distance.
