Switching to Armour - Please advise

Hi I'm finally switching to armour after consulting with my gp and although he can't subscribe them on the NHS he is happy to monitor and work with me on how I'm feeling along with regular blood tests which is reassurance to me.

I am after some help on the level I should start on as I'm finding the mg and grain all very confusing - any advice would be gratefully received

Many thanks

Minismum,

1 grain Armour is 60mg and contains 38mcg T4 and 9mcg T3 which is equivalent to 65mcg Levothyroxine.

Many thanks - would you recommend starting on a smaller dose and build up ?

hopefully get started asap and see some improvements 👍

Minismum,

What is your current Levothyroxine dose? If you have recent TSH, FT4 and FT4 results and ranges please post them too.

Did you change to armour? Or still thinking about it

Before seeing an endocrinologist you need full evaluation you ideally should test TSH, FT4, FT3, TT4, TPO and TG antibodies, plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Do you have high thyroid antibodies? If so this is Hashimoto's also called autoimmune thyroid disease

Have you had FT3 tested? Or vitamins

If not all these need testing first

How much Levothyroxine are you on (or Armour)

See if you can get full thyroid and vitamin testing from GP. Unlikely to get FT3

Private tests are available

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results

That’s brilliant thank you and think I need to get cracking on getting some detailed results - I’m now on Armour for my well going into my 4th month and now on 2 grain per day although I’ve been putting on weight it’s now a little concerning hence my reason for coming onto this group again as I’d really like some more help in the right direction and advice
