hello again: so 9 months shouting at my doctor... - Thyroid UK
hello again
Nicky-nicky159,
I think you mean Addison's?
If it's not Addison's, and your GP won't help you any more, change GP.
all the doctors round me are the same , MONEY MONEY can't go privet as no one in my area , Tell him about the thyroid uk he said I know better the they do ,
Nicky-Nicky159,
There are good private doctors but you may have to be prepared to travel to see one.
Email louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org for a list of member recommended endos and private practitioners.
If it's not Addisons then work at getting all your vitamin levels sorted and your nutrition and diet. Going gluten free and so on is a help. We have to try to help ourselves. If nothing major is wrong apart from thyroid disease then all you can do is find out what works for you. GPS look for major system faults but not the overall picture of running the engine and keeping it well oiled and tuned.
Looking back at a previous thread of yours healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
What has happened about your B12, did you check for signs of B12 Deficiency, did you post on the PA forum, have you supplemented with D3 to improve your Vit D level, have you adopted a gluten free diet and are you supplementing with selenium?
Hashimoto's is as much a disease of the gut as it is the thyroid
Have you gone absolutely strictly gluten free
Are you taking Levothyroxine, if so how much and have you got recent tests
How much vitamin D are you taking and been retested?
B12 - are you having injections, been tested for Pernicious Anaemia, and supplementing vitamin B complex as well as folate
Low vitamins that affect thyroid are vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12. If these are too low they stop Thyroid hormones working.
All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and if taking Levo don't take it in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after.
If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results
