NDT. Not all the same.

I made the mistake of mixing two brands of NDT yesterday. WP thyroid, which I've been taking for the last couple of months and NP thyroid.

I normally take 2 grains first thing. I stupidly took one grain of each. Wow, what a difference. Brain feels confused, edgy feeling inside but feeling lack lustre also a very very slight feeling of breathlessness.

I'm very surprised at the change as I assumed the main ingredient would be the same for each brand, just maybe a difference in fillers.

These are the ingredients for each and Naturethroid has three more so you may have a sensitivity to one of those. stopthethyroidmadness.com/a...

NP brand of thyroid meds was the 'new kid on the block' back a few years ago. As people experienced the 'new' NP, many reported that they had to cut back their thyroid med dosage. It seems NP is more readily absorbed for some folks compared to the other brands of thyroid meds. As always, we all seem to react differently to the various thyroid med brands. But... now you know that you and NP don't seem to get along, right? So approach it with caution if you ever decide to use just NP only as you seem to be reactive to some of NP's ingredients.

By the way, I had great luck with NP as well as WP but never mixed the two.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

The feeling was of being over dosed. Jittery, but slight brain fog. Didn't realise you get foggy with too much dose.

If it's more readily absorbed, does that indicate it's better for the system, more efficient, or just different.

Nick... I think just different. Just my opinion but my body sang when I took NP. But it is hard to get in my neck of the woods whereas WP is a lot more available. WP does a good job for me and no complaints. Remember, it is more easily absorbed by some folks... not all. It gets frustrating sometimes that nothing about supplementing with NDT or levo seems to be predictable or 'set in stone'. We all react differently to different things.
