Globus hystericus .Chronic acid reflux
Welcome to our forum Diane and are you also hypothyroid?
They say thyroid blood tests clear
Did you get the blood test at the very earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water). If you were taking thyroid hormones you'd allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose and test.
Please get a print-out of your results with the ranges and post on a new question. We are entitled by Law to have copies of our own blood tests. Some surgeries charge a nominal sum for paper/ink.
Post them on a new question for comments. If your GP hasn't tested B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. ask for these to be done.
If you had your thyroid test later than early a.m. and you had eaten tell GP you've taken advice from the NHS Choices for information/advice about dysfunctions of the thyroid gland and you've been advised that late a.m. tests are not 'true'. - the reason being (just in case GP is unaware) the TSH is highest early a.m. and drops throughout the day.
Diane, There is a good possibility you maybe hypothyroid and undiagnosed. I would imagine your doctor has taken thyroid blood tests in the past. If you could get the results and post previous blood tests it would really help. Post all of them as well as thyroid. If you have not been tested please ask to be as below. Also that GP does not sound very pleasant or well informed. Is there another in the surgery you can see? I have had the acid relux. I decided to stop taking due to it stopping the absorbtions of vitamins. I have fund that I am for the most part Ok with out it but need to take occasionally if I have eated something that does not agree such as white bread or cider/wine. I do however treat my thyriod now so that helps. Have a look around this forum and see how you symptoms compare.
It's a good idea to get your doctor to check your vitamin levels as we don't absorb them so well if we're on acid reducing medicines. So a test for VitD, ferritin, folate and VitB12, plus post your actual thyroid results from your last test. Doctors seem happy with some levels in thyroid tests, when they are actually far from a good level.
Hi there! First of all the sinus issues are caused by your reflux, the sinus make mucus to protect from acid burning. Eat slowly, don't lie down for at least 2 hours after eating.
No fatty foods, take apple cider vinegar every morning and a probiotic later in the day!
Wishing you well
Try digestive enzymes for the acid reflux - not what the GP has given you!
