I'm currently facing and locked in, the unprecedented flooding in Houston Texas. This morning I noticed several symptoms return, but I'm still titrating up. I can't get labs done right now. Impossible. I'm currently titrated up to 3/4g for the last 9 days. Suddenly I'm feeling so sleepy like I've been drugged, some swelling returned to my thigh, and Light sensitivities has worsened. I was slowly improving, now it seems I've back tracked.
Is it too soon to take more Nature Throid? I was under the understandings that it's best to titrate up, every 14days on average? I was going to go up, only slightly, since I'm still new to the meds, to 1grain.
The hospitals are closed. Highways. Only helicopter lifts for imminent emergencies. This is quite the catastrophe but im trying to stay positive. Any word you have would be a lifeline and highly appreciated....

I'm sorry it's so awful in Houston. Looks like the heavy rain is likely to continue a few days more too.
Your FT3 was below range so there is plenty of scope to increase dose without a blood test. I think you can increase by 1/2 grain now, and again in another two weeks if you have sufficient dose and hold at 1.75 grains for 6-8 weeks and retest before increasing further.
That's what I was wondering. I have to be careful though bc I don't know when pharmacies will be back running and or when my doctors office will be, and most significantly when the city will be able to get to the highways. It's alllllll boats out here now. It's absolutely unbelievable. Unbelievable. Underwater. Even the two major airports. I will try and call around to se what pharmacies will b operating....scary.
Ohhhh ok. I was going to up it, but only by 1/4 tomorrow, so I'd be on 1 grain as opposed to 3/4. It's a risk however I play it since no one knows when and how the city will recover....the worst is supposed to hit tonight. There is a major damn anticipated to crest/break in about three hours, that will funnel 59FEET of water into the city and surrounding suburbs, now under mandatory evacuation.
Under normal circumstances though, do you think that with these symptoms coming back (drowsy, distorted vision, right thigh fluid, light sensitivity...) would I have been on the right path by titrating up BASED on those symptoms returning?
Im so grateful that my home didn't flood, but all around me is surrounded, like I'm on an actual island in the middle of an otherwise bustling industrious city . So I feel a heavy sense of grief and guilt. I cannot believe this is the fourth largest city in the states, and it looks like the ocean has exhaled through us. There are 737 aircraft with water up to their engines at major airports.
Anyway, I digress...thank you so much for your time and help. I will do my best.... I remind myself, no matter how I feel, I'm alive. And in this unprecedented wolrd watched event, that is pretty special.
Under normal circumstances based on your symptoms and results I would have advised a 1/2 grain increase now and another 1/2 grain in two weeks.
I hope a controlled release of the dam water will spare the city worse damage from an uncontrolled breach and I hope to goodness the rain eases off and stops soon.
Ahh, I see. Even though it's crazy here, I'm still trying to learn thyroid! 😉 You're awesome and you have nooo idea how much help you are and have been. I truly appreciate you.
One of the members on this forum, has a son in the states, near me, and he too has Hashimotos, so we keep in touch through his mom!! So I just messaged her hear to update her on her sons area. The world is big, and small!
Oh yes, it's raining as I type this . If you'd like to see local LIVE footage:
Thank you. It will be ok. Just bunkering down...television doesn't even begin to capture this. It's absolutely nothing anyone has ever seen....thank you for your well wishes.
Thank you so much. Probably not tomorrow, but it'll be ok. I'm good for maybe three weeks, depdmkgnon how long it will take to get doctors and pharmacies back in operation. Because employees are so far and wide, highways and people are deadlocked. Boats are all over like cars once were. It's insane.
Im just trying to take supplements and figure how to titrate up without over using meds while not undermedicating...
I realize I'm nowhere near some people who had to be helicopter lifted for medical care. It's absolutely unlike anything anyone has ever seen in the states. I'm just without words, well not really - I have two that I need to say: THANK YOU...😊
Thank you...you too! Be safe, as in sure you're probably getting some rain pour. All these boats!!! I'm near Bellaire/59south. It's unecognizable. Right across from Kelsey hospital, but can't get in!
So I'm titrating these meds with estute diligence!!
Hang in there. Hope y'all stocked upon other important necessities. I'd play it safe too with the meds.. but at the same time, you do need to feel better in order to deal with all this chaos. Ill be watching to see how you go ❤️
TappedOut, wishing you and any other members in the Houston/Gulf Coast area all the best during this terrible flooding. It will be a long recovery process, so take care and let us know how you get on.
Thank you Wellness1....I just titrated up today....not too much, just by 1/4g. Trying to keep some meds just in case. But hopefully some pharmacies will open sooner rather than later.
Hi TappedOut .., very sorry to know of the horrible rain . Im in NEOhio & see onthe news. I wish I could help but know, many hearts up north send love & prayers😊❤🌈
Oh my gosh! You are up!!!
Here is who I follow & I hope you get some ideas. She is a WONDERFUL Harvard & MIT trained doctor - Dr.SaraGottfried.
Boohbette17, Thank you so very much....trying to keep the Nature Throid as long as I can. As soon as we can see the ground again, I'll be at that pharmacy. Just trying to make it til then...
Thank your for your regards and kindness....so very much. ❤️❤️
So sorry to read what you are going through. I think in your position I would hold off increasing for a few days more. If telephones are still functioning I would try to at least let the pharmacy know you are running out and check that they will have some for you put by. Try not to worry, easier said than done I know and try to conserve your energy whilst meds are lower than ideal. Thinking of you.
Oh, thank you Silverfox7. (You know I adore you!!) Thank you...
Everything is closed. But some grocery stores are opened today for limited time frames. Pharmacies in the stores are not yet open, in my area. BUT, so many people are in similar regards, that I will be faithful that it won't be long.... until then, I'm doing what you've suggested. While I've titrated up (only on my second day of such), only slightly.
