For SSRI the number needed to treat to get licenced is 7. So 1 out of 7 people recovers on SSRI. It doesn't sound right does it. In room full SSRI users only handful has had full benefit and vast majority continue to feel rubbish.

And how many of the other 6 commit suicide or murder, or get high serotonin symptoms and feel worse? I mean there is no way to tell that someone is serotonin deficient (I wonder if many people are - I suspect not). Probably be better off smoking dope.

What they should be testing for more usefully would be the MTHFR gene mutation which may mean your methylation does not work properly and can cause depression in the first place plus may make you actually resistant to antidepressants.
