Pinkpeony If you are sending it first class and have secured your blood tube in the travel container properly, there's no problem. If it worries you that it will be in the post box for a long time, just post it as close to collection time as possible.

I always send mine back by Guaranteed Next Day by 1pm service so there's no delay. You do that at the post office counter for an extra fee and they give you a receipt with a tracking number so that you can check that it arrives the next day.

I have always sent mine next day delivery from the post office, I personally wouldn't put it in the post box.

Thanks Susie, it's in such a lurid plastic envelope I was a bit worried about taking it to the post office . It has first class on it can I just go into the P.O. and ask for guaranteed delivery ?

Is it the yellow one?

Yes, just go to the counter and say you want it to go by 'Guaranteed Next Day by 1pm'. It might be weighed. The cost of the service is £6.90 and you may be lucky and they take off the cost of the 1st class postage already paid. Sometimes I've had it taken off but not always, it depended on the counter clerk. They take the envelope off you and they hand over to the postman when he collects all the special delivery items.

I use Blue Horizon and when I order the test I include the return special delivery postage and it only costs £4.90 that way. The return envelope has all the necessary details and postage on and you hand it over the counter for a receipt as normal.

I just drop it at the PO. I think they like it to go into the post before midday.
