Good morning everyone. I was on a call this morning with my gp who he asked me if the blood results I have him,was from a fingerprick or a vein. That has made me wonder and worried. What if they are faulty arisen/dropped? So gp has booked me for a blood test in a week time to test tsh,t4 and t3.what do you think?

Is fingerprick blood test reliable
Yes they are accurate, but you may find your doctor doesn’t know that they are...
See this thread for more info—in particular, scroll right down to the bottom to see the reply from BlueHorizonsMedical.
It is possible the lab will not do the FT3 test - even if your GP has requested one. The results may vary due to different testing equipment so do not be fobbed off
Thank you both for your replys.i really hope the results will be similar so they decide to treat my hypothyroidism.
Blood is blood, some tests require more blood in quantity depending on lab methods of assay....if a quantity of blood is required for centrifuging, for example.
My GP accepts Blue Horizon results by fingerprick, on a personal level but I do still have the yearly TSH only test done by the surgery so it's officially on my record, even though on its own it's about as much use as a chocolate ashtray!
Thank you for replying. It just made me think only when gp asked me and then it came to my mind that, when my husband is doing his sugar level test, the results can differ, even when he does them within a few seconds one from another.it is so sad that gps can't help more though.😔
