Do you have some recent test results you could share with us - the ranges too. Difficult for people to comment without .... You are legally entitled to have copies of test results.

I would pop those results into a new post so more people see them and comment. No anti-bodies tested. Also you need B12 - Folate - Ferritin - VitD tested as tingling could be low B12.

Why do you take statins ?

Not a lot wrong with your results.

High cholesterol...6.4

I thought cholesterol was a symtom of thyroid ... thanks for your reply

Welcome to our forum and sometimes it is difficult to get diagnosed as GPs only go by the TSH. In the UK it has to reach 10 but some doctors will prescribe if it is a bit lower.

Did you have your blood tests at the very earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water) and if you were taking thyroid hormone replacements you'd allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose and test. If you didn't have the earliest appointment, ask your GP if he will test again as you've taken advice from the NHS Choices for information/advice. Tick off your symptoms below:-

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_...

It is good that he is referring you to a Consultant as he is puzzled why you have symptoms if your TSH hasn't risen sufficiently and if you have a goiter you definitely need to see a Specialist too..

If you had your blood tests at the earliest, ask surgery for a print-out of your latest results, with the ranges (ranges are in brackdets after the results). Labs differ and ranges make it easier for members to comment.

Have you had your B12, Vit D, folate and ferritin tested? These need to be optimal (not just in range) for the thyroid to work at its best. Tingling in the hands can be a sign of B12 deficiency. pernicious-anaemia-society.... I was in range with my B12 but I supplemented and my tingling hands went away.

Hi Gillianmellor I'm so sorry I forgot you replied! When you google it they seem to think there is a connection, but I am not a doctor, was only recommending the above based on my own experience. Are you on the statins for cholesterol? (Believe high cholesterol is a problem for hypo patients).

I see you have recently joined this forum so will not be aware how many times we talk/discuss statins. There is absolutely no research to say that statins benefit women. Also people dying in hospital are more likely to have LOW cholesterol. Your life expectancy is increased by one day according to research - so is it worth all the side effects. Docs are well paid for prescribing . Please read the link below ...

He is the Doc who wrote - The Cholesterol Con.

Cholesterol is produced naturally in the liver because the body needs it. All our hormones need cholesterol. Our brain is 26% cholesterol. Statins block the production of VitD on the skin. Statins block CoQ10 and VitK2.

The link above is a research paper illustrating how statins cause heart disease :-)
