Southampton university hospital saliva testing.

Has anyone had any success in getting an NHS saliva test done through this hospital? A post from 4 years ago by NBob suggested that I was an option.

If I were you I wouldn't bother. Two of my best friends and my mother died in Southampton General. You can order the test online and it is fairly low cost.

I am really sorry to hear that Bunnyjean. I am curious because I hear so often that GP's won't accept saliva test results. The doctor at medichecks said my daughters results were so low that she has Addison's so I wondered if the GP would pay more attention if it was an NHS hospital that actually did the test.

I spoke to them and they told me the test could be ordered by my GP, but the GP refused saying they only do blood tests.

If you do go for a cortisol blood test go at 9am as NHS reference range is based on 9am levels.
