Mummylum,

I'm sorry you've had no replies. If pregnancy hormones triggered hyperthyroidism it will probably go into remission after delivery. If you have Graves antibodies permanent remission is likely in less than 50% of patients.

Mummylum,

It can take several months for your pregnancy hormones to return to normal so it may take a while for overactive thyroid levels to normalise too.

Ok. The doctor has prescribed me carbimozale but I'm hesitant to take them. I feel like I can manage symptoms quite well most days. He advised me to stop feeding when taking the medicine so I thought I'd wean him off before taking the tablets. But now I'm waryof taking them x

Mummylum,

Can you post your thyroid results and ranges (ranges are the figures in brackets after your results)? It's not possible to advise otherwise.

Mummylum,

How very paternalistic and condescending of your GP. Ask your GP receptionist for a printout of your results and ranges. Any argument ask to speak to the practice manager and tell him/her the Data Protection Act entitles patients to their test results and ranges and to please instruct reception to print yours out or you will make a formal subject access request.
