Hi all. I was diagnosed with Graves in 2003 (I think) and after a couple of years on carbimazole everything settled. Last night I was in the queue at the Co-Op and my whole body started shaking. I thought back to how I had been feeling lately and realised I'm having a hypo relapse (if that's a thing?). Due to the warm/hot weather lately and my OH having a broken foot I put the sweats, muscle weakness, tiredness, irritability, headaches, blurred vision etc down to that. I have a docs appointment Monday so I can get a blood sample but I'm feeling low. I came across this site and just wanted to reach out to people who get it. My OH is great but can't understand the random symptoms. This feels a little narcissistic but sometimes you have to be.

Thanks for listening x

Hi sorry to hear your not feeling so good at the moment, as graves is incurable it can rear its ugly head at any time, sometimes extra stress can kick start it again.your doing the right thing seeing your gp and getting levels checked and it's not the end of the world if you need to go back on carbimazole for a while you can still go back into remission again. I have graves and was on and off carbimazole for 12yrs and felt pretty well for much of the time then had Rai 7yrs ago so am now hypo. If there's anything you need to know all of us on here will help where we can or if you just need a chat or a rant as some of us do from time to time we are here for you.

Thank you for replying, it means a lot. I didn't know Grave's was incurable, so thank you for you for that too. I have been a lot more stressed since my OH broke his foot. I'm reticent with RAI but will do whatever I need to. I really appreciate the support x

As for Rai if I could go back and change one thing I would not have had it done I felt so much better before I had the Rai, but in my case things were badly managed after I had it done, others might say have it done but on here I think they are in the minority.

So sorry you have been so unwell. I'm also a graves sufferer and have flare ups. I've found this illness hard to understand but with help and guidance on this site things are becoming a little clearer, I started off overactive, hyperthyroid had surgery, partial thyroidectomy, years later became hyper again and again and again! Went through kidney stone treatment which thoroughly upset everything and was advised as my thyroid was so unstable to consider RAI I did eventually have it and I really wouldn't have it done again, I have really struggled with hypo symptoms and grave disease flare ups. Sincerely hope you can find answers and I'm sure you will find help and support on this site 😊😊
