Flair Up?

I'm worried that I'm in the midst of a flair up! I've had extremely loose stools for about a week, awful shins splints (I can't even jog or walk like I usually do) and am full of anxiety. Should I go get my blood work done? I'm worried that my doctor will start to think I'm a hypochondriac, and maybe I am!

Frankly, yes. And if you're worried about what your doctor might think, don't be. It is his mission in life to serve his patients' needs. If you are at all concerned about your health status, your doctor should be your first port of call. (And my doctor thinks I'm a hypochondriac - couldn't care less; I think he's an utter numpty.)

True, how do you stay with the same doctor though? I want to switch but it's such a hassle!

Many here have switched, but it's a lottery... Yes, and a hassle. I have to stay with the same quack because I live in France and he has a smattering of English. So, with his smattering, and my blattering, we get by. he's still a numpty though.

njmatsche,

Do you have any other symptoms? Loose stools can be due to upset stomach and shin splints aren't a typical thyroid symptom. Shin splints are usually due to trauma. You should certainly see your doctor about the shin splints and if the loose bowels persist those too.

The only reason I'm thinking they are related is because right before I was diagnosed last year with Hashimotos I was having charlie horse like cramps all over my body and shin splits (at least that's what they felt like) and very loose stools. About three weeks after being on my medication both symptoms (among many others) resided.

oh and not really any other symptoms, I've been more tired lately but I have started a new job and am very busy. Also, when the tiredness comes from my thyroid I find it to be like a chemical exhaustion that takes over my entire body. So it's probably not related. I have had a sore throat for about 3 days... idk if that's related.

njmatsche,

Fatigue can be due to under medication so perhaps you should ask for a thyroid test.
