I have had these test tesults back. I have been on levothyroxine for about 10 years now taking alternate days of 100 then 125 micrograms. Please could you let me have your views as since finding this website I have been intrigued as to how you can interperet them and advise people what needs to be acted on.

Lindat135 - how do you feel?
Your thyroid results are euthyroid ie normal in that they are within range.
TSH is nice and low (1 or under is generally best for us Hypos). Your FT4 is just under half way through it's range and your FT3 is very low, both of these are generally best in the upper part of their ranges.
Your TPO antibodies are over range so confirm autoimmune thyroid disease aka Hashimoto's, which is where antibodies attack the thyroid and gradually destroy it. Adopting a strict gluten free diet and supplementing with selenium L-selenomethionine 200mcg daily can help reduce antibodies.

Ferritin is excellent and CRP is nice and low which is good.

Vit D is recommended to be 100-150nmol/L so you could supplement with D3 softgels, maybe 5000iu daily for 6-8 weeks then reduce to 5000iu alternate days. Retest after 3 months and adjust dose if necessary to stay within range.
Important cofactors are needed when taking D3, read about them here vitamindcouncil.org/about-v...

B12 and folate work together and both are low.
B12 under 500 can cause neurological problems. You can buy some sublingual methylcobalamin lozenges 5000mcg and take one daily, finish the bottle then buy some 1000mcg dose as a maintenance dose. Solgar and Jarrow's are popular.
Folate should be at least half way through it's range.
When taking B12 we also need a B Complex to balance all the B vitamins. If you buy one with 4mcg methylfolate that will help raise your folate level. Look at Thorne Basic B (one daily) or Metabolics B Complex (two daily and this brand doesn't contain fillers or any unnecessary ingredients).
Hi Seaside Susie
I really appreciate you taking time to analyse my results. I was originally diagnosed with a combination of Hashimotos and Graves disease-very unusual I know. I present with thyroid eye disease in just one eye. I had radioactive treatment which killed off my gland hence Levothyroxine. For over a year I have felt quite down and fatigued. I have put on a lot of weight but mainly because of feeling slightly depressed which resulted in over eating and no exercise due to lack of energy and just couldn't be bothered which is not like me. When I have dieted I am lucky to loose 1lb a week. Hopefully if I take B12 it should help. I will read your suggestions and go with them as well. Thank you so much once again.
