I stopped taking them after two years when I discovered they were causing a lor of my symptoms, such as confusion, memory loss, pain in legs and difficulty walking. I was having indigestion, burping and feeling full, but they are also symptoms of b12 deficiency, common with an underactive thyroid.

Since stopping them and receiving treatment for b12 deficiency, the symptoms have mostly gone. I had stopped them about 6 weeks before the b12 treatment started and the symptoms were reducing. I found 'the great cholesterol con' by Dr Malcolm Kendrick eye opening. I'm not saying you should stop taking them as I don't know your medical needs, but I would read up as much as you can before deciding. Dr Kendrick has a website too with information.

How long have you been taking them ?

in reply toMarz

Hi Marz been taking them for nine months. Since stopped taking them, I am just about getting back to my normal self. Apart from the stomach upset I started having panic attacks. These are all side effects of this statin. My cholesterol was not too bad to begin with. They have an effect on muscle and the heart is a muscle!! I rest my case.
