My Consultant who has put me on T3 told me to take it with food. On this site I see advice to leave an hour or more after food before taking it, the same as with Levothyroxine.
Does anyone know which is right or where I can find the answer?

Thyr01d,
Levothyroxine, Liothyronine and NDT can bind with the proteins in food and drink which can reduce absorption of the thyroid medication and that's why it is advised that they are taken away from food etc.
Annoyingly the Mercury Pharma Liothyronine PIL simply says to take T3 as directed by your doctor whereas Levothyroxine says to take before food.
It never ceases to amaze me how ignorant doctors can be about the medication they are prescribing.
I wonder if they are wrongly nervous about prescribing it and know that food will lessen the effect-just a thought!
