That is very interesting indeed. Especially for people with hashi's.
Thanks. Sounds good. Personally I'll give pretty much anything a go to feel better.
Only 40 people took part though, so quite a small trial.
Unfortunately there is a lot of absolute gobbledegook in the article. Especially the ridiculous idea that synthetic thyroxine isn't the same as natural. It is. Protein folding has nothing whatsoever to do with this. Also one has to be careful that simply normalising thyroid parameters is curing the disease. - in Hashimoto's the disease may be still ongoing and a temporary respite useful but not for the long term. Very longterm studies on this have to be done to show a continuing benefit rather than the shorter study done.
Diogenes, there must be a purpose for the thyroid producing T3,T2,T1 and calcitonin? I just take T4 but wonder whether T2, T1 and calcitonin do anything significant .
T2 has an important role in controlling mitochondria (these are the energy-producing constructions in cells). T1's role isn't known yet an may not have one. There are actually about 25 thyroid hormone varieties in the body, and we know next to nothing about what they do. Many are in tiny amounts and may not have a role but some must do.
Maybe this could work in early hashimoto as if TPOAB is lowered then it would slow down the damage done. It would require annual screening to catch it in early days I think.
