I have just gone through a barrage of tests as I didn't feel well. Have been diagnosed as having hypothyroidism
I lost my husband 7 years ago last September and still seems like last week. I don't eat properly, nor have any interest other than setting the alarm to get up for work😣

hi 3085
I'm.sorry to hear about your hubby.
you must win the mental battle.it takes a lot of will power.
your hubby would want you to be happy/good with life,.
I hope you feel better soon
take care
I must add I do know how it feels to loose partner.my hubby was 21.
I'm just inquiring about understanding hypothyroidism and if it can be confused with diabeties? I just gave that other info as a way to feel comfortable
Can you specify what advice you want, exactly? Have you started thyroid hormone replacement? How much?
Did the doctor tell you how to take it? On an empty stomach, with water, one hour before eating or drinking anything other than water, and two hours before any other supplements or medication. Do you take any other medication?
Both hypothyroidism and diabetes are diagnosed through blood tests, so there's little chance of confusing the two.
Hypothyroidism makes you feel knackered, listless, couldn't care, just want to sleep. It's well known to cause depression, though it's astonishing how many doctors don't bother testing for it before throwing antidepressants at you. I would imagine that in your case your doctor has seized on your husband's passing as the reason you feel rubbish and hasn't bothered doing anything until now. Bet you've been hypothyroid for years!
Huge hugs (fellow widow here). OK, how proactive do you feel like being? Because we'd really recommend getting hold of your thyroid blood tests and posting them here for comment. You're legally allowed to have them, so just ask next time you're at the doctor's. Has your doctor started you on levothyroxine yet? Hopefully so.
