Autoimmune hypothyroidism with fluctuating thyroid tests
Kaffy7,
It appears to be saying there was no appreciable RAI uptake which would indicate thyroiditis. I suspect in that context he means no indication of hyperthyroid thyroiditis which would cause high thyroid levels. If switching you to Teva doesn't stabilise your thyroid levels he is suggesting block and replace treatment which involves prescribing an anti-thyroid drug (usually Carbimazole) to completely block thyroid production and Levothyroxine is prescribed to replace the blocked thyroid hormone.
Many thanks ... I had thought along these lines but just needed reassurance that I understood completely.... Although this still means they are unsure of why my levels are erratic? Having been on the Teva brand over the last few weeks I have returned to hypo symptoms ... Tiredness and Pains In my hands and wrists. I have had the same cold for the last 5 weeks and now have a chest infection to which the doctor has advised my thyroid issues are connected with this? Would this be so? Any help or advice much appreciated
