Hi CarrieLouisePenn,
TSH 3.3 indicates your thyroid is beginning to struggle but NHS doesn't diagnose primary hypothyroidism until TSH is over range ie >4.2.
Arrange your next thyroid test early in the morning when TSH is highest and fast (water only) as TSH drops after eating and drinking.
I can't interpret the sex hormone results.
Had another one done, my tsh is now 3.6 😟 I'm so fed up x
CarrieLouisePenn,
TSH 3.6 rules out primary hypothyroidism but doesn't exclude secondary hypothyroidism. You could order a private thyroid test, TSH, FT4, FT3, thyroid peroxidase and thyroglobulin antibodies to check. thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...
I think Dr Peatfield believes anything over 2.5 is questionable from memory and over 3 is abnormal in other countries I think. Also not sure about being resistant to thyroid hormone as I imagine that thyroid function tests are all within range in that case.
Blue_Lagoon,
I don't disagree but NHS won't treat until TSH is over range or FT4 is below range.
Resistance to thyroid hormone presents with high TSH and high FT4.
Sorry sounded like you were ruling out primary hypothyroidism when the original poster could still have it.
As an aside, I would be really interested to hear what you make of my blood results before I was diagnosed. I couldn't make head nor tail of what was going on with me.
