Big up for my doctor

Just thought I would big up my doctor as they seem to get a bad press on here. Received in the post this morning a form filled out by my doctor for free prescriptions. I had not asked for this and seeing as I've only been diagnosed for approximately 10 days I am impressed at her being so on the ball. I am seeing her next week for check up.

Gold star for your doctor.....Let's hope your treatment is as good as this too.

I hope so too. so far so good. She listened to all my symptoms and immediately sent me for blood tests same day. She phoned me at home out of hours as soon as she received my results and I started meds the next day. I'm impressed.

Yes, thyroid stuff means free meds. I don't think the good docs get a bad press, just the bad ones. :-)

Winifred86,

That was considerate. I'm surprised your pharmacist didn't mention it when your prescription was dispensed. It's nice to hear a positive comment about a GP.

The pharmacist probably didn't mention it as I already get free prescriptions due to receiving ESA. Also I haven't seen one good comment about doctors on here so far so thought I would just mention that there are some considerate doctors out there.

But, it's not considerate doctors we need, it's knowledgeable ones.

I was saying she was considerate re free prescription form read original post. In respect of knowledgable GP the clue is in the name. General not expert. I'm not saying all GP's are good or bad but they can't be expected to be experts in all areas.

Agreed. The trouble is, they think they are.

May I just add that the surgeons who have had a go at my problems on 6 occasions have done a marvellous job and I am truly grateful to them all. They have saved my life on 3 occasions.

I just wish I could say the same about GPs and endos I have seen concerning thyroid issues.
