OK. Confused now.

Yep. I understand about taking iron 4 hours away from my thyroid meds (NDT) but now I'm coming across posts that say Vit D needs to be taken some hours away, too (something I have def. not been doing). Anyone know the truth of it, please?

Bestest. Stevie.

Yep, it should also be taken four hours away. And, two hours away from the iron. The only thing you can take with iron, is vit C. Vit D needs to be taken with your fattiest meal of the day. :)

Hi, Greygoose. many thanks for your reply. Oops, that's four months of doing the wrong thing then... Bestest. Stevie.

Oh, we all go through it! Doctors can't tell us how to do it, they have no idea themselves! :)

Steviecat,

For maximum absorption Levothyroxine should be taken with water 1 hour before, or 2 hours after, food and drink, 2 hours away from other medication and supplements, and 4 hours away from calcium, iron, vitamin D supplements, magnesium and oestrogen.

Many thanks, Clutter. I'm on NDT, but I daresay it's the same regime. Oh and I don't think I'll be taking oestrogen... :-)

Steviecat,

Just in case you were considering gender reassignment ;)

I can confirm that taking HRT & NDT at the same time definitely reduces the efficacy of both! I learn most things the hard way... :-/

It's a kind thought, but I haven't considered it thus far... One never knows, though :-)
