Endo wants me to take 75 levo and not mix brand as mercury pharma 25 don't agree with me. I take almus from boots 50 can I take 50 one day and 100 next as this would still be 75 over two days

Ninja1,

You can take 50/100mcg alternate days or you can halve the 50mcg and 100mcg tablets and take 75mcg daily, whichever you prefer.

Ninja1,

Shame your endo didn't prescribe 100mcg daily to bring down your TSH.

I use a pill cutter since I need to do the same thing. It makes a perfect half and even doubles as a little container where you can keep the other half till your next dose.

Yes, not to go off the subject but is this something new? The number of times my tablets have crumbled to bits just getting them out of the blister pack, it's so irritating.

That's strange I've never had a tablet crumble while taking out of the blister pack. Only if I'm not paying attention when cutting them in half

It's annoying. I get two different brands (one 100, one 25) and the 100s often crumble getting them out of the packaging. The 25s never do and feel and look shinier and harder. I have surplus but there have been times when I have only had the exact number of tabs required and if it had happened then I would've been scrambling to make sure I had enough.

I was on a 100 for 22 years but then I went hyper so doc cut it down too much then I went hypo. Saw private endo who says stay on 75 for six weeks until he rules out tissue regrowth as I had total thyroidectomy 22 years ago do he was concerned that I suddenly went hyper and wants to rule things out with a scan

I take the same 75mcg., so because I'm allergic to the filler in mercury pharma, I got the doctor to prescribe extra tablets (126 instead of 84) which he did without question when he asked me why.

I have Actavis 50mcg. btw. and they are very easy to break in half with your thumb nails. They do not crumble at all, at least they never have done for me.

Mine are called almus but that is actavis packed for boots but they crumble easy where do you get yours from

After I put my next order through on System Online, the surgery sends my prescription to the chemist who then orders it in (mainly because they never seem to have it in stock).

They have it in my notes that I must be given Actavis because of my previous allergy to any containing acacia powder as a filler.

You could always ask Boots to get it for you.

Boots the same but when you need 25s they gave me Mercury Pharma which didnt agree with me. Now i have to half 50 actavis but it just crumbles so now im taking 50 one day and 100 the next, seems to be ok so far

My Actavis is in an orange and white box with the name 'actavis' on the orange section, and the words 'Levothyroxine Tablets' on the white section.

Is that what you have Ninja?

Gold and orange box think they are packed for boots

The important thing is not the box (useful though the colour scheme can be), but the Product Licence number on the Patient Information Leaflet inside. P/L <number>

If two products have the same P/L, they are the same product.

Ninja, my pharmacist always seems to alternate levo brands each month and I've always wondered if there is a difference! What fillers don't agree with you? 😊

It's probably the acacia then, that's what did it for me with M/P's.
