Since taking T3 before bed, I wake up so hot in the morning I must throw the covers off despite the temperature being only 65° that 18° Celsius. Is this normal? Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue?

Side effects of T3
Hiw much are you taking? Do you take it all at night? The bulk of mine is taken during the day. Nighttiem dose is very small. I am on a combined med -a ndt.
Maryh1,
I take T4+T3 in the morning but now that I've stopped being a freezing bunny I usually wake up hot in the morning. I don't see it as a problem because I'm not woken by being hot. If you are uncomfortably hot why not get a lighter duvet.
When I go to bed, I'm cold. I've been advised to take both NDT and T3 in the morning too. It's easy enough to remove the blanket. It's just very strange to be actually hot when I wake up. I think most men are naturally hot all the time.
Cutter,
What time do you take your T3 and 4?
Did you have head aches when you first started this? Do you take more T3 during the day?
This is a new thing for me too, but I'm not optimally medicated yet. I'm still in the experimental stage.
I tried 5mcg of T3 a few weeks ago and I also felt very hot upon waking. I also felt very tired and sleepy around 4pm. I stopped taking it temporarily because of the afternoon fatigue but will try introducing it again. All the best!
I often get tired in the afternoon, so I take a nap. Of course I'm old and retired and have that freedom. Age does have it's advantages? Lol
Cheers!
I tried again by taking it at midday but I had to stop again because it started to give me terrible insomnia. A week on I still haven't been able to settle back into a good sleep pattern. I hope T3 is working for you.
I guess we're all different. You know I was advised to take my T3 and T4 in the morning 4 hours before rising it's the Arcadia rhythm thing. Couldn't do it. I also tried taking just T3 four times a day and no T4 as I have inflammation issues. I couldn't do that either, gave me coughing fits! So I guess you should experiment a bit till you find what works for you.
Good luck!
It sounds like you're following Paul Robinson's Circadian T3 method which is for people with low cortisol. My cortisol is on the high side so I think I need to get it to a lower level first. I'm going to focus on adrenal glands to begin with. Not sure how just yet.
They say adrenal glands should be addressed first followed by thyroid and then hormones. It probably explains my insomnia too. I hope you find something that suits you. All the best!
Mary, I have just recently reached my optimal dose (88 mcg T4 on five days and 17.5 mcg T3 on 7 days). I take it all in the morning in one dose. When I go to bed I'm cold and wearing two pair of socks. But now I wake in the middle of the night and throw everything off because my body feels like it's creating so much heat!! A totally new phenomena for me!
That happened to me too. But I took my T3 around 8pm. Eventually I stopped waking up like that. I'm taking a lot of vitamins, maybe it was a deficiency. Also, after a week your suppose to try and raise your T4 a quarter of a grain. I kept doing this till I got to two grains and couldn't go any farther. I hope you're on a natural thyroid. Isn't wonderful to be actually warm again? And after sleeping 12 hours a night to suddenly wake up early, for me is like a miracle!
