Which brand of virgin coconut oil is the best to use?

I am gaining weight because of hypothyroidism....I stopped taking my levothyroxin because I felt sick....now I just want to go the natural way to heal my issue with thyroid!

Coconut oil is 90% saturated fat so not really a good option.

Coconut oil is high in medium chain tryglycerides, which are a "good thing". Saturated fat has been shown in recent studes to be somewhat protective against heart disease (CVD), which is also a "good thing". You need saturated fat to make cholesterol, which is needed to make hormones. No evidence that coconut oil is a "bad thing" that I've ever seen.

Gaitri,

You can't 'cure' hypothyroidism or heal it naturally. You need thyroid replacement to replace the low thyroid hormone. If you don't feel well on Levothyroxine you might consider Liothyronine (T3) or NDT (Natural Dessicated Thyroid) which is derived from pig thyroid but it is very unlikely either will be prescribed on the NHS and you will need to buy online and self medicate.

If you are hypothyroid it is very important that you take levothyroxine or an alternative, or you will become very unwell. If you felt unwell on one brand of levo, try another. It could be the fillers that you are reacting to.

If you have hypothyroidism you have to take replacement thyroid hormones, however you might do better on t4+ T3 or NDT, or perhaps you were just undermedicated. If you post your TSH, FT4 and Ft3 blood results someone will advise.

There is no "natural" way to replace them (unless you become a serial killer and eat your victims thyroid glands - that is NOT a recommendation). Before thyroid hormones were discovered, hypo patients just went mad, or fell into a coma, and died a lingering death.

If you have autoimmune thyroiditis (Hasismoto's) you can often mitigate the autoimmune side of the disease by going gluten-free. You cannot repair your thyroid with diet.

Most brands of exra virgin coconut oil are the same. I usually go for Biona or Clearspring as they tend to be best on price.
