Stress before short synacthen test

Will this affect the results, I presume it will? I want it done as I've waited 4 months.

I'm dealing with just finding out my mum has incurable cancer so it's a very stressful situation. I want this test done but I'm guessing going in so het up isn't going to give the truest reading.

It will ensure you adrenals are struggling if under any form of stress so yes will impact somewhat !!

You just don't need to have been rushing around 30 mins prior so if you arrive early and read a book for a bit that should suffice. Just had mine done 😀

My son actually was very stressed out (ex marine) he now meditates every day and he's a completely different person! We should all do it!

Sorry to hear that ! But yeah it will if anything make the results better because it will show how quickly your using cortisol and how poor your adrenals are working ! It will be ok I'm sure !! I know most of us just want a confirmed diagnosis ! That in itself seems stressful enough ! I've been to two consultants two hospitals one says definite ai the other thinks I've got a sleep disorder !! Well I know that I haven't slept well in 3 years !!!

Ha ha, I have a sleep disorder....it's called a 3 1/2 year old child!

Not sure. Basically, they are going to inject you with "liquid stress" so it probably won't make much difference if you are stressed in another way, although it could change your baseline measurement. Ask the GP.
