lindybarr The most comprehensive one is the Plus Eleven which does all thyroid tests including antibodies, plus all important vitamins and minerals

Whether or not your GP is likely to take notice of them is debateable, some do, some don't. But it is a starting point and if your GP doesn't want to recognise them then you can ask him to do his own tests for any results that warrant it.

Lindybarr,

Your GP is unlikely to make a diagnosis of hypothyroidism until TSH is >5.0 or FT4 <9.0. You can do private thyroid testing to check your FT3 and thyroid antibodies but the results are unlikely to change your GP's mind about making a diagnosis until you meet the criteria above.

lindybarr - I had the thyroid6 done with blue horizon for similar reasons. TSH was elevated and T4 T3 in the low quarter. I had asked for antibodies to be tested but wasn't sure GP would actually do them. It turned out that GP did and I am awaiting the results. However in the meantime had BH tests (and did the prick test just before going to GP) and got these back the next day, and confirmed to me that I have Hashi's. If nothing else it gives you the confidence to stick to your guns with you GP. When you have a level of knowledge about stuff it's easier to stand your ground and not be fobbed off.

All thanks to Thyroid UK and HU.

Good luck and stay determined.

I got thyroid6 done via BH and it showed raised antibodies, plus my TSH was up, although still under the top of the range. MY GP got me to do another test after 6 weeks (as I'm a needle phobe I said it was the only way I'd get a blood test) and my TSH finally went just over range, at which point she agreed to start me on 25 mcg Levo. It was thanks to the antibody results, plus my mother had had Graves, so that just pushed her decision in my favour. Definitely worth doing, especially getting the antibodies measured. Then after that I went on to get my Vit B12, D, folate and ferritin measured, too, am very glad I did!
