Thyroid results
Wow not seen results like that before. Looks like the thyroid is in a big storm and giving off loads of hormones as it destroys itself. Do you take any thyroid meds and were they taken before the blood test ?
Not sure what else to say. How do you feel ?
Thanks for you reply I am on carbimazole twice a day at the moment not been give beta blockers. I have been on the carbimazole since 12 December and been. Ack to day for bloods I'm hopeinf that thing have improved since theses tests. I'm am still waiting for my appointment with the endo. Thanks for your response I really appreciate the feed back as doctors tell you nothing.
High TSH Receptor antibodies (TRAB) - this is classic for Graves disease. It is obvious that you have stimulating TRABs which are over-stimulating your thyroid. In turn, your thyroid is producing and releasing too much thyroid hormone.
(TRAB get stuck in the TSH receptor and, unlike TSH itself, stay there stimulating the TSH receptor for a long time.)
Your elevated Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies are probably not particularly important at the moment - they indicate autoimmune thyroid disease. This is quite commonly found alongside Graves.
Your FT3 and FT4 are very high.
In my book, you should have been prescribed an anti-thyroid medicine (probably carbimazole) and a beta blocker (probably propranolol).
You should also have been told not to hesitate to go to Accident and Emergency if you start to feel even worse, or your heart rate goes up (I suspect it is already beating fast), or anything else changes significantly. Do not feel you are making a fuss.
No-one knows why people suffer from Graves. You will probably never know, I'm afraid.
When is your appointment? It should very very soon.

Carbimazole usually stops thyroid hormone being manufactured quite quickly - if in a high enough dose. However, the amount in your system can take quite a while to be excreted or used up - e.g. a couple of weeks or longer if the carbimazole dose is too low.
When you get to that point, you can very suddenly become hypothyroid. This can be a real shock. At that point two options exist - reducing the carbimazole to a level which just stops the thyroid producing too much thyroid hormone. Or, in a technique known as block and replace, keep you on a suppressive dose of carbimazole but add levothyroxine. The theory being that it is easier to establish and adjust levothyroxine dosing than carbimazole.
When on carbimazole, you need to be aware of agranulocytosis:
I am still waiting to have a diagnosis from Endo. So I'll M not sure I have Graves yet.
I am taking it easy but doctors not said I should be off work.
Thanks for your advice x
