Increasing T3

I started T3 four weeks ago (6.25mcg). I know I should be thinking of increasing the dose but it seems to be disturbing my sleep so not sure what to do. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm also having trouble losing weight :-( Just what I need for Christmas approaching!

Your dose is so extremely small I wonder if it isn't due to too litle hormone. Were you on levothyroxine previously and what dose?

Sorry Shaws I should have said I'm also on 125mcg of Levo too. I think when I increase the T3 I will need to decrease the T4?

I wouldn't bother reducing levo but would add your next dose of 6.25mcg. keep an eye on your pulse/temp. If either went high, then I'd drop T4 down by 25mcg. Keep in mind that I'm not medically qualified.

The more I reduced levo and increased T3 the better I became.

That's great Shaws thanks-I will give it a go tonight and hope I sleep! I'm no expert by any means but as body builders take T3 to lose weight (mad fools) I wasn't expecting to gain weight. Let's hope the increase works for that too.

Body builders don't have hypothyroidism and all they are concerned is to have defined muscles. I don't think you want that :)

Due to us being hypothyroid which means our metabolism is so slow that our energy from food etc doesn't work as it used to. Unexplained weight gain is a clinical symptom of hypothyroidism. Also, if we aren't on an optimum and exercising trying to lose weight (or dieting), we actual reduce the amount of T3 in our receptor cells so that can make us feel worse.

Not exactly a win-win situation is it!! I'm not dieting or exercising but a big wedge seems to have settled on my tummy. There's plenty more so it's in good company ;-)

Many members when they've got to an optimum dose for them have reported weight loss. Some joined weight loss groups. It seems to much of an effort for me when trying to feel well overall to diet..

I lost 10lbs without trying earlier in the year on the autoimmune paleo diet so I think I'll give that another go when we get Christmas out of the way :-)

Yes, spoil yourself at Christmas and then you can start the New Year afresh and raring to go :)
