Is there any point in continuing with medication

Although I'm feeling passably ok I feel no better than that and I'm wondering really what the point of continuing with the medication is. I'm taking 125 mg levothyroxine. As there is no benefit in the treatment would it do any harm to forget this attempt to feel bettter

Did you follow the good advice from bluebug some 4 months ago ? Thyroid hormones need GOOD iron levels to work well. Did you get re-tested as suggested ?

It was great advice and I did get retested but haven't had the results yet (actually I might have had two sets of tests done since that post one of which resulted in an increase in Levo) I will have to see what the second lot say.

Thank you for your sage advice.

The easy answer is that you would feel a lot worse without it!

Various things may not be working right for you so easiest place to start is looking at your most recent labs with their ranges.

Basically go back to the beginning and try to find something that may be the key but posting labs is a good place to start.

Suggest you google myodema coma and decide. Levothyroxine is a replacement hormone that we take because our thyroid doesn't produce enough due to progressive disease or removal from surgery. We need hormone replacement for life. If you want to permanently cause damage to yourself it is your choice. I know it is hard but you need to take control and responsibility for your own health. There are many helpful knowledgeable people on this forum, it is not a quick fix, you will never be the person you were before.

If you have recent blood results post them in a new thread and see what people advise. Good luck.

I was close to Myxedema coma. There was a feeling of sinking in slow motion, I will never ever forget it. Please do not give up your pills, good advice above, take it on board.

Thank you for that. I was just thinking that as I had obviously been suffering unmedicated for years and didn't come to any harm then if I just didn't bother I would be no worse off if you see what I mean.

Your experience puts a different slant on it all.
