Is your heavy period a new thing? Could it be related to menopause?

During the pre-menopause years my periods were dreadfully heavy, wearing night-time pads constantly and having to change them very frequently.

You were discussing your thyroid results with Greygoose the other day and it appears you aren't optimally medicated.

Just to clarify; did it change now? Or always was heavy? I have heard that heavy periods can be one of the symptoms of under-active thyroid.

Greygoose discussed this with you in your last post and gave her suggestion regarding your dosing.

Pre-menopause can do strange things. You haven't said if you are pre-menopause.

But you say your period is heavy on 75mcg Levo but not on 88mcg Levo. think your answer lies there.

Your iron levels can also affect your periods. Anemia increases bleeding and so creates a vicious circle. My ferritin got down to 17 when I was particularly bad. Doctor increased my dose of iron and I started taking B12 as well and I got better after a few months and after a year was able to cut down the iron to every other day.

Hashimoto's and or hypothyroidism make anemia more likely, so check with your doctor.

It is really miserable and exhausting and I hope you can sort it out easily and simply. (There are other interventions that the doctor can prescribe such as Mefenamic Acid, Tranexamic Acid both of which I found helpful until I developed an allergy, or the Mirena 'coil' which helps a lot of women - but if you chose the Mirena, check that your doctor will agree to remove it if it makes it worse after a few months!).

Good luck!
