Back on T3!!!

Hi I am a new on this forum. I was adding T3 to my Levo before and I felt so much better. Then one stupid private endo told me that my TSH is too suppressed and that I have to stop with T3. So I did and it was the worst year of my life. So I decided to do it again, I am getting back on T3 no matter what he thinks. Thanks to good people here, I got the link to reliable supplier, since my last one from few years ago is out of business. I am so excited and I can't wait to feel better again. What I wanted to ask is why do I feel so much better when my TSH is suppressed and does TSH matter at all? Even if it does I don't care, I want to be well, that's all. Thanks again to all.

Kesa1,

How well you feel has nothing to do with the level of TSH. It's the level of FT3 which makes you feel well or hypo. Patients on Levothyroxine need FT4 high in range to convert sufficient T3. Patients on T4+T3, NDT or T3 only usually need FT3 near, or in, the top third of range. When FT4 or FT3 are adequate TSH will be low or suppressed.

No, TSH doesn't matter. It will be suppressed on T3 only. Your body has enough T3, so why bother stimulating T4 production? Go by your symptoms!

(This is the conclusion I've come to after countless hours of research and reading many medical journal articles, and years of personal experience.)

That's what I thought. This endo doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. I felt awful for a year listening to him. No more! I don't care what my TSH I want to be well. Thank you so much for your advice and understanding xx

Upgrade you are completely right. I tried to talk to my endo but he said that continuing with T3 would be dangerous is TSH is suppressed. Imagine that! And I was paying him to tell me that, so I think in this case I was the stupid one :)

Hi John. My TSH was 2.0 and my endo said it's too low and told me not to take T3 anymore. I know now that it was completely stupid, I don't know why I ever listened to him. As I said, being without T3 made me so sick for a year.
