I'm seeing my doctor before I gave a thyroidectomy. I want to make sure he will treat me holistically and not just go with blood tests. Can anyone advice me as to what questions I can ask?

There are ways to holistically treat thyroid issues, so that you can avoid thyroidectomy. Why would you need a thyroid removal?
I had a subtotal thyroidectomy 20 years ago due to a goitre I now have another goitre which is starting to press on windpipe causing an irritating cough. If there's a way of reducing the size of the goitre I'd love to know because I'm terrified of the thyroidectomy due to the stories of the weight gain after the op.
I'm on levothyroxine since last surgery.. According to the surgeon I spoke to last week, they don't know what causes goitres, but they run in families (my brother had an op for a goitre last week). I've never been diagnosed with any condition. I will definite look at functional meds - thanks for that.
