I have always been hopeless with tablets - its nothing to do with thyroid, just that if you feel OK then tablets are not the thing uppermost in your mind.

Nowadays I take tablets on waking and wait an hour before eating - so hunger is my punishment, and I rarely forget. If you eat early in the evening you could also take them at bedtime, but there needs to be a 3 hour gap between eating and tablets - and no milky bed time drinks!

For non standard pills I use the alarm on my phone, and I keep snoozing it until the tablet is where it belongs!

One final thought, they say that its fine if you take all your levo in one go, once a week. So you could probably safely double up the next day if you miss one.

Doctors have very little idea about thyroid. There's so much they don't know!

jane166 Do you mean you didn't know about taking your thyroxine daily? Do you not read the label on the box your thyroxine comes in?

Your previous posts say you've been underactive for 15 years, are on 300mcg thyroxine. You said you are exhausted, have insomnia and painful joints. Well, if you don't take your thyroxine regularly then that's not surprising.

You were advised to get vitamins and minerals tested, also obtain your thyroid results and post them for members to comment so they can help you. Have you done that yet? It's amazing how much it would help if your vitamins and minerals are at their optimal levels. It's needed for thyroid hormone to work.

To remember to take your thyroxine, the best thing to do is take a glass of water to bed with you, put your tablets out on your beside table next to it, then take them as soon as you wake up in the morning or you could even take them at bedtime, it doesn't matter. Just take them on an empty stomach, one hour before or two hours after food. Take with water only.

Get a weekly pill dispenser - keep it by the bed.

Fill up once a week

Do the same with another weekly dispenser for vitamins and keep it on the dining table.

Essential to check levels of Vit D, b12, folate and ferritin as Seaside Susie says

If you can not get GP to do these tests, then like many of us, you can get them done privately

Blue Horizon - Thyroid plus eleven tests all these.

This is an easy to do fingerprick test you do at home, post back and they email results to you couple of days later. Usual advice on this test, (home one or on NHS) is to do early in morning, ideally before 9am. No food or drink beforehand (other than water) don't take Levo in 24 hours before (take straight after).

When you get results suggest you make a new post on here and members can offer advice on any vitamin supplements needed
