Hi Demmi, you have to realize that your thyroid pill is not like taking an aspirin which goes to work almost immediately. You are building a level of hormone in the bloodstream that goes through a process to make it available in the cells. While T4 has a half life of two weeks you are constantly building up to a certain level and you will then remain on a certain dose and keeping it at that level. So until you get to the final dose for a few weeks you may not notice huge improvements. Hopefully this will all work well but you need to have good levels of ferritin and cortisol. You may also need to rectify deficiencies of B12 and folate. If you still don't feel much improvement, T4 doesn't always work, some change to an NDT. Eventually you will figure it out, with or without your GP.

Hi there

Once you have your blood at right level it will then start replenishing the stores in your body. These will have run down while u were undiagnosed.

It takes about a year once uou're on the right dose. You will feel better month on month until you suddenly realise you're well.

While you are building up to the right dose you may feel worse. Stick with it. 8 weeks on each dose let's your body adjust to the changes and you should feel better towards the end of each 8 week period

Be kind to yourself in this period of healing, take it slowly and don't try to do everything

Good luck

Hi Demmi35 I was taking Levothyroxine .50mcg for a long time. Then over last few years starts having symptoms of vert tired. Having to nap. No energy . Dr. switched me to .75mcg. It took 5 weeks for me to feel a change. All of a sudden I realized hey I don't need to nap. Sooo happy. But then the hair loss happened. So now I'm on Synthroid .50mcg. I'm getting so frustrated. This is not an easy fix. So many other variables involved. Hang in there for a few weeks. See how you feel.
