have been taking Venaflaxine for 2years can't stand the perspiration which has started 2 months ago my GP said its a side effect.

I am new to this and have never discussed my problems online before, but I need to know What is causing my perspiration?I have suffered with depression for over twenty years in 2013 I had a lung removed due to cancer. I am being treated for post op cancer pain with Oxycodone , Levothyroxine for an under active thyroid , Venaflaxine for depression. Recently I started to get these horrendous sweats only in the top half of body. My GP thinks it is a side effect of the Venlafaxine but but prior to the sweating he reduced my Levothyroxine from 100mg to 75 mg and I think that may be the cause can anyone help.

doubt you would get side effect from the anti depressant after taking it for two years, could be meno

I don't know about perspiration. Personally, I never perspire. But it does sound like you're no under-medicated, so anything can happen - we don't all have the same symptoms.

Do you have any lab results to share with us? Just post them here, with ranges, and members will be able to help. If you haven't got them, ask at your surgery. It is your legal right to have them.

My son was given that medication to treat his chronic migraines and he suffered terribly with sweating. It didn't do much for his migraines so he stopped taking it. Clemmie

Thank you all for your replies, I don't think it is the Venlafaxine I'm more inclined to think it's from the reduction in the Levothyroxine, Jefner I think your right about side effects after two years, thank you greygoose i wasn't aware about lab results will ask next time I'm at GPs and barrister if only I could stop taking the antidepressant ,I'm so scared of going into that dark place again,but thank you all.

I had terrible sweats when i was taking venlafaxine, I didnt realise it was a side effect until i changed antidepressants .

Sweating is also a listed side effect of Oxycodone, I believe.

Lots of breast cancer patients are prescribed Venlafaxine to reduce sweating due to chemically induced menopause! I am finding this very interesting!
