Advice please , purchasing nature thyroid ..dose conversion with Levo
I was confused about which doses to buy too so I bought Thai Thiroyd first as it's cheaper just to see if NDT would help and also get an idea of what dose I would need (Thai Thiroyd just comes in 1 grain tablets). After a couple of months on that I purchased some Nature-Throid. Not that there seems to be a problem with the Thai one but purely for my peace of mind as there are fewer ingredients in Nature-Throid. The dose conversions don't always work out exactly, some people may find they need to take more or less 'equivalent' dose of NDT and it's wise to start on slightly less than you think you'll need as for some people the direct T3 can be a bit of a shock to the system.
There is conversion info though on here getrealthyroid.com/
That's great thanks ,, and how are you doing ? You are new to NDT too , I was reading your post about headaches has it all settled down ? I have constant aching joints withT4 well over top range only on max of 75 Levo or I get hypo ,,, NDt worth a try I hope .Val
Hi Val,
yes I am doing great thanks! Headaches and dizziness down to over medication I think..trial and error but when the doctors won't help there is no other choice I guess. I am still having a down or tired day maybe once every 10 days-2 weeks but nowhere near as bad as pre-NDT. I still haven't been on it that long either really so I am sure I will just keep getting better. I have just started going gluten free due to finding out I have raised antibodies..want to see if it helps my joints (although they aren't as bad as they were either). I have also sent off a cortisol test today as I suspect that my down days may be due to adrenal problems. I am finding it much harder recently coping with any stress..even mild. I am 'fully functioning' now anyway so would highly recommend trying NDT
That's good, yes it is scary going it alone without Dr support but they are just so blinkered ...will,you have bloods done privately too . Yes any stress floors me too ! I've cut out gluten ,stomach problms/bloating better but it is difficult to completely avoid it I think just avoiding bread and pasta has really helped me .! I'm pinning my hopes that the Levo has given me the joint problems so I will give it a go , I can always go back if it doesn't improve things ... I was also a bit worried about customs seizing tablets have you found ok with Nature thyroid ,I know you have to pay extra vat and Royal Mail postage .!
You can't translate Levo to NDT directly - you should start on half a grain twice a day (1 grain in total). Then after 10-14 days increase by another half & so on. If you google STTM NDT the dosing recommendations are there.
