I started 25mg two weeks ago which I know is a starting dose. Feel no better, possibly worse but I've also moved house in this period so hard to judge.
How long till levo kicks in?: I started 25mg two... - Thyroid UK
How long till levo kicks in?
Hi, no will not feel better if you need a higher dose, it can take time to adjust the dosage, this has to be done slowly.
Takes 3 or 4 months
I'd go back to GP, 25mcgs are no good to man or beast! Get doseage upped.
Post any blood results on here and the very clever ones will help you.
Hey, ok seeing Dr on Friday. She's being cautious as my TSH is fluctuating between 4-6 ish. Positive TPOab 1300
Hi
Do you know what your FT4 and FT3 is? The NHS doesn't routinely check these. Others on this site might be able to give you a more detailed explanation but you may find you feel worse initially as this low dose may lower your own thyroid output even more, so your TSH may lower and be 'in range' but you feel worse. Get your bloods done in 4-6 weeks and make sure they check your FT4 and FT3 as well.
Good luck
Tried 3 times for ft3, labs refuse. Ft4 between 10.7-11.3
25mcg is too low as a starting dose and you will feel worse.Your TSH needs to be about 1 or below. You have Hashimotos with those high antibodies.
It took me a year to feel much better even though some symptoms went fast some remain nearly two years on. My eyebrows have not regrown!
Misslissa,
It takes 7-10 days to absorb Levothyroxine before it starts working and up to six weeks to feel the full impact of a dose. 25mcg is a low dose, and unless you have heart disease, your doctor could have started you on 50mcg.

I will be honest and say it took a while for the doctor to get me on the right level of medication. I started off on 25mcg and have ended up on 125mcg by moving up every couple of months.
I know it's hard but try to give it a little longer. It sounds like you have had a lot on your plate as moving house is knackering so try to rest when you can. It probably will take a couple more weeks to feel the benefit of the tablets to be honest, but keep in contact with your doctor as much as you ca on how you are feeling.
The doctor will get you to have regular blood tests and this will show how much medication you need to take, and once you get to the right level you will honestly feel better. I notice when I miss my tablets as I feel lethargic and everything is just that bit more effort. You can put how you are feeling down to so much but your doctor will help you get this sorted I promise.
Hope you feel better soon......
it should be raised to 50 at 2 weeks.
