Levo to NDT

I've ordered some Thyroid S and am waiting impatiently for its delivery!!

Can anyone tell me, as they are 60mg tablets how many should I take to replace 125mg of Levo?

NDTs as you realise comes in different 'doses'. 60 or 65mcg is equal, in effect to 100mcg of levothyroxine.

You can usually just switch straight over, i.e. 1 1/4 ThyroidS for 125mcg levo. Before you begin I'd take your pulse/temp several times a day so you have a base. If your pulse goes too high or you feel too hot (sometimes we do feel hot but temp is normal) you can reduce your dose slightly or miss next day's dose and reduce. 

The recommendation is that you increase about every 2 weeks with a small dose until symptoms go and you feel better but you might feel fine on your starting dose of NDT.

Are the tablets large enough to cut or do you think I'll need a pill cutter?

Some use a very sharp knife or a safety razor but I use a pill cutter. Sometimes they aren't exact but I think it works out over the week.

I stopped my levo for 2 weeks before starting NDT and I started on 1/4 grain about 1/4 tablet.  Buy yourself a good pill cutter.   Please do not do a direct swap it is too much T3 at once and it never works.  I'm sure doctors say it so they can state 'Well we tried that and it didn't work'.
