A couple of years ago I put on a stone and couldn't shift it . I put it down to 'my age' ( I'm 57) and the menopause but when I started to get all my most debilitating hypothyroid symptoms I lost weight and am now under nine stone . Has this happened to anyone else ?

No unfortunately AnitaApple quite the opposite for me. I was 9 stone before menopause & hate to think what I weigh now. Have you been diagnosed hyper or hypo?
AnitaApple,
I lost weight when I was switched from T3 to Levothyroxine. I was advised to eat small frequent meals to maintain weight. I don't have much appetite so I've been using a protein shake since March and have visibly gained weight although I haven't checked on the scale to see how much.
I lost weight with my hypo but think that's because I was taking sea kelp for my hair to grow quicker (not realising the weight I put on was probably hypo) I think it speeded up my metabolism and then when i stopped sea kelp my symptoms all started to happen quite quickly. Has been an emotional roller coaster of a year for me 2016 I'm hoping next year is much better I can only have hope and wish it for you too xxx
