Can anybody tell me what the NHS pay for our thyroid medication - I saw someplace a figure of £13,000 plus per annum for one patient and equivalent figure for EU mainland of around £300.00 but cannot recall where it was or how they found those prices out. Maths. IS NOT my best subject. Thank you.

Thyroid medication costs in UK
I take 60mcg of t3 each month that's 3 pots £250.00 each pot that's £750 a month X 12 = £9,000.00 that's what mine cost......
Thanks Pixielula what I am wondering is where the other huge price came from - maybe it was on Thyroid advocacy site but it made my jaw drop I can tell you.
This information is completely incorrect. Cytomel is nothing near that price in US, it's much more expensive.
I live on US, I don't need to look at this to know the price. What do you think why so many of us Americans have to buy medications aboad? Certainly not because we like it that way but because they are awfully expensive here.
I gave some figures in my post healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... and have since discovered (from the doctor) that the cost he stated as £10,000 for my T3 would now cost over £13,000. That was for 1456 tablets.
If you look at healthunlocked.com/api/redi... [thank you jimh111] you'll see the most upto date published figures but which are out of date - MP T3 has gone up 63% since September 2014!!
hope this is of some help
I buy my own NDT at £66 for 100 two grain tablets, & a friend has just brought me some UniPharma T3 from Greece, for under £1 for 30. Someone needs to tell the NHS to shop there instead, so access to this important medication is improved for those who need it. It must be possible within the EU?
