Hashimotos and Natural Killer Cells?

Hashimotos and Natural Killer Cells ? Anyone have the two together? Trying to figure out if I need this test too. As I heard this can also cause early miscarriages. Will speak to private endo on friday about this. Any with any experience?

Orangepie,

Everyone has natural killer cells as they are part of our immune system.

A competent & healthy immune system is where killer T cells & the antibodies producing B cells are in balance.

Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell & are made up of ;

- killer T cells offer cell to cell combat attack to anything they don't recognise (bacteria or viruses) (Th-1 and TH-2)

- B cells produces antibodies which are molecules that grab anything foreign or dangerous. (Bacteria & viruses)

- T helpers & T regulators turn on & off the immune response.

The immune system initiates inflammation which releases further compounds to attack & kill.

When killer T cells and B cells don't work in balance then autoimmunity (can) start.

An imbalance in killer cells aren't usually considered by doctors unless an immunologist is treating immunology conditions.

In Hashimotos TH-1 & TH-2 are the two main T-Helper cells thought to become unbalanced but I now read TH-17 has a huge influence on how these initially behave.

TH1: - cell-mediated immunity, which usually deals with infections by viruses and certain bacteria. Body’s first line of defense against pathogens that get inside our cells. They tend to be pro-inflammatory and are involved in the development of organ-specific autoimmune disease.

TH2: - humoral-mediated immunity deals with bacteria, toxins, and allergens. Responsible for stimulating the production of antibodies in response to extracellular pathogens (those found in blood or other body fluids). They tend not to be inflammatory and are involved in systemic autoimmune disease and other chronic conditions.

Hashimoto's is diagnosed by an elevated level of:

- TPOAb that attacks an enzyme normally found in your thyroid gland, called the Thyroid Peroxidase, which is important in the production of thyroid hormones or/and

- TGAb that attacks the key protein in the thyroid gland, the thyroglobulin, which is essential in the production of the T4 and T3 thyroid hormones.

The easiest way to deal with all this is to lose body inflammation by eating a healthy g/f diet, healing the gut and taking supplements known to reduce inflammation such as Vit D and fish oils high in omega 3's.

I had recurrent early miscarriages and was eventually diagnosed with high uNK cells (uterine natural killer cells). After treatment, I had a healthy baby boy. When he was 1, I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid and a year later diagnosed as having Hashimoto's - so I have a link between the two...
