After my recent appointment with the endo consultant I've been made a thyroid scan appointment for 19th January. However I'm really anxious as I don't like needles, I've became a lot braver with my blood being taken but now I'm scare about having the dye injected into my arm.
Also because its radioactive I was wondering how people felt after having it done?
I work in the hospital I'm having it done in and was wondering if I can just go back up the office after?
Thanks in advance

MissSB, Other than a slightly dry mouth for a few days I had no ill effects after high dose radioactive iodine ablatement via capsule.
The dose will be low for a radioactive iodine uptake test and the hospital should advise you of any special precautions you need to take after. You should let your doctor know if you are likely to come into contact with children and pregnant women.

Hi to concur, it's a tiny weeny dose of radiation, no more than an xray at the dentist, it's nothing to worry about. I'm OK with needles, I just don't like the scanners ... get a bit claustrophobic and find they make me teary (I don't like machines much rather deal with people!!).
